I love Pajama Days!

I've been pretty busy this semester, so I took today as a pajama day. I stayed in my pj's all day long and didn't leave the house, except to take Stokley on a quick walk. It has been such a nice relaxing day. I've done a lot of work, but it just seems so much better to do work in my pjs knowing that I don't have to hurry to run off somewhere. So here's what I did:

* finished my lesson plans for the rest of the year for my 050 class
* finished one of my last three lesson plans for trig
* did the monthly finances
* made four lasagna
* made one pot of chili
* cleaned the kitchen
* hung a lamp from the ceiling
* did two loads of laundry
* sewed up a small whole in my duvet cover
* watched two episodes of Trading Spaces
* ate three pieces of cake (they were small pieces)
* had a bowl of ice cream

and I still have all evening to myself! (as you can see, I didn't work on my self control with food!)

Now that I'm getting way ahead on my school work, I'll hopefully be blogging more.

Oh, exciting news! Joel and I are going to spend Christmas with my mom and Jennifer and Tony in Houston. It'll be so fun to be with Olivia for her first Christmas. I miss her lots.

Philippians

I've really been enjoying the series on Philippians that Steve has been teaching on at Riverview. First, I love expository teaching. I get such a good picture of what the culture was like, what the people were doing, and what their relationships meant to each other. Second, it really helps me to learn how to study the Bible better myself. So often I just get stuck reading and not really pulling all the ideas together which causes me to miss out on a lot.

Blogging hasn't been to high on my priority list lately, so I apologize for the lack of posts. This is what's been going on in my life:

Last Monday I had one of my students threaten another student before I got to class -- that was a fun way to start my week.

Wednesday I gave my Trig students an exam that over 40 of them failed, some because they ran out of time.

Thursday Joel and I stayed up until 12:30 grading the tests. I wouldn't have gotten them done with his help. --- He was such an angel to help me! We also had a really good small group --- a great discussion about Joshua 1-8. Just think about it --- would you really march around a city seven times totally silent while carrying a pitcher and a rams horn? I'm sure people were probably throwing things at them. It'd be worse than the fight between the Pistons, Pacers and fans at the Palace of Alburn Hills.

Friday Joel and I went out on a date to Aldaco Mexican restaurant --- which was really good. Then we went and bought 8 shrubs and a few mums for our yard. I had fun planting them on Saturday.

And Sunday was the best day because I took a 2.5 hour nap while watching the Lions & Panthers game.

so that's my life. (Joel aren't you proud of me for all my sports references?)

Visitors

My aunt and uncle came to visit this weekend. What a great time! We got to hangout and catch up on Friday night then on Saturday we drug our husbands to go shopping in Frankenmuth and Birch Run. What good sports they were! It was just so nice to get to hang out with family.

Strange

I finally got things straightened out about my paycheck at MSU. It turns out that even though I will only be working at MSU from August to December, they pay the salary over 12 months. So I will get paid from them until next July, which seems really strange to me. Not to mention that it derails the plans that Joel and I had for the money. Kinda wish they would have told me that in the beginning. But at least now I know.

Murphy's Law

yeh, it still works.

Friday was the worst day I'd had in a long time. First, I went to work, mindlessly forgetting my whole school bag. So I walked into my classroom to teach without even a pen. I'd be so mad if my students did that! However my students were totally forgiving and had a fun chuckle with me about the whole situation.
Next, I taught at MSU only to realize that I had partially told student how to graph trig functions wrong. The way i told them work in many cases, but in one case it didn't. So I had to re-teach them 10 minutes before a quiz. Shoot! I think I confused them, so I felt really bad.
But thankfully it was payday. My check wasn't in my mailbox, so I thought I'd go pick it up from Payroll. I drove over there, circled the place for 30 minutes looking for a parking spot (most of the spots had been blocked off getting ready for the game on Saturday). Then I get up to payroll and find that they don't have my paycheck, the department does. So I travel back to my department and hunt down the checks. The wonderful lady to handed me my check says "I hope you're not disappointed with this, it seems a bit low." Yeah --- it was incorrect.
So now I've spent almost an hour hunting down a paycheck that is about half what it should be only to make me late and not have enough time to run home and let Stokley out before I had to be at a meeting at LCC until 7:30 on a Friday night!

I haven't felt so exhaughsted in such a long time!

Thankfully Saturday was much better --- I cleaned my house and spent some time with Stokley outside planting bulbs so we can have beautiful flowers next year!
