I'm so pathetic

During RivKids yesterday, we jumped through an entire song. I've never been so sore in all my life. My lower back and thighs ache at my every move.

How pathetic is it that!?!

I guess it would have helped if I wasn't wearing boots with three inch heels.

The Lion King

If you've read Joel's blog, you probably know that we went to see the Broadway production of The Lion King. It was so incredible. I was totally blown away by the amazing costumes and singing --- especially from the 9 year olds who played the young Simba and Nala. (But I was a bit disappointed my the adults in the crowd who talked rather loudly.)

My mom came up on Saturday. We had a fun, relaxing day of shopping while Joel and our friends moved pianos all day long. I like it so much when she comes to visit me!

I don't really have much to say. My conscience was guilting me into blogging since it's been a while.

Quiet Tuesday Night

Joel had a leadership Bible study tonight and worship team practice. So I've been hanging out at home all evening by myself. It's kinda nice to have the house to myself for a few hours every once in a while. I've gotten a lot accomplished tonight, but I won't bore you with those details.

Here's some updates:

The furnace:
Right before we were supposed to leave this weekend for Indiana, our furnace quit blowing heat again. This time it was the igniter. We're just trying to buy our time with it until we place it and add central air after our tax check and bonus come in.

My Work:
LCC decided to allow its students into my two classes for MSU that only had a combination of 10 students. Now I'm up to 10 in one class and 15 in the other.

Indiana:
Joel and I had a good weekend with his family. We went and saw End of the Spear with his mom and dad. It was a pretty good movie --- major tear jerker. We also got to spend some time with his grandparent whom we haven't seen in quite awhile.

Olivia:
Olivia had her first tooth pop through on Wednesday. She's eating two full jars of baby food three times a day. But like her mommy, you can't tell that she eats that much! She's also started to try to crawl. She goes to a mommy & baby aerobics class with Jennifer and saw other babies crawling and decided that she should be able to do it to -- especially when they crawl over and take her toys!

I think that's all the "exciting" stuff in my life.

Random thoughts I've had today

Is it selfish of me to want to accomplish certain tasks before I have kids, making them have older parents; instead of young ones, who can keep up and have fun with them? Should I wait for my accomplishments until my children are grown and begin my family earlier?

Why do I feel so pressured to accomplish house or work related tasks each day but hardly feel pressure to pray or spend time in the Word?

I think I'll put on my pj's at 3pm instead of waiting until 8pm. Why don't I just wear my pj's anytime that I'm home. They're so comfy.

I love the sunshine. It makes everything better.

My week is getting better

Joel was on top of things and called a furnace guy out for us --- a guy that goes to Riverview. (it's always nice to have people that you trust.)
Ends up, our furnace just needed a really really really good cleaning.
So $143 later, I'm warm again.
The money is worth being warm to me!!

I was having such a great week....

Classes started this week.
Things were going well.
I've been relaxed all week.

Then I told my boss about my two classes who have a total of 10 students.
He's not so happy about that.
The classes might get canceled.
I don't know how much of a job I have left with that.
He promised me he'd find something for me to do.

Joel and I woke up this morning and noticed the house was a bit cold.
Turned the heat up and went to work.
I came home and was grading quizzes (my students did very well).
Noticed that my finger tips were turning blue.
Hmm.... less than 65 degrees in the house.
Turned the heat up to 80.
Hear furnace running downstairs.
Don't feel hot air from any vents.
Need to call furnace guy.
Not so much fun!!

But...
Tricia lost her grandfather this week.
Much worse than my situation.
Money can fix mine.
Nothing can fix hers.

I don't know what to think of this

I started teaching my IDV 002 courses today -- the two classes that I teach for MSU but through LCC (complicated, I know). The classes are held in a new extension center for LCC that is near MSU, but still a pretty good walk for students. I was all ready to teach at 10:10 when class was supposed to start, despite the fact that I still hadn't receive class lists and didn't know how many students I had. At 10:40 I had two students. So I gave them the syllabus and let them go. At 11:15, I had another student show up who had been given incorrect information and took a bus to the down town LCC campus. Poor kid. So I emailed my contact at MSU asking for a class list. Turns out for two classes I have a total of 10 students. Yes, 10. I have six in my 10 am class and 4 in my 12pm class -- in which only two showed up. So I'm going to sit here for a little while longer and see if anymore lost souls show up.

Wow--- how nice is it going to be to teach two classes with a total of 10 students. Grading is going to be so easy! I'm just not sure what to make of it.

My Break is Over

On Monday I must re-enter the working world. My three week Christmas break is over. So sad... But the last two days have been wonderful! On Friday, neighbor and friend, Leah and I went out for breakfast at Sophie's Kitchen in Grand Ledge. (Great breakfast place.) As we were sitting there talking, I asked her if she liked to do "crafty" things, like paint-your-own-pottery. So on the spur of the moment, we decided that we'd go. This is what I made!

It's a lot of fun and a pretty cheap afternoon of fun. Then Joel took me out to dinner and we bought some new movies to watch. Whenever we walk into Blockbuster, I always know that we are never going to rent movies. Joel always ends up buying the 3 for $25 previewed movies. We came home with StarWars III, Vanity Fair, and Batman Begins. We watch Batman Begins last night -- and I actually enjoyed it and stayed awake for the whole thing! That's a big feat for me!

Today, I woke up somewhat early due to my sniffles. But I decided to relax and went downstairs and watched Vanity Fair while cutting out patterns of cowboy hats for RivKids. Then Joel and I spent the rest of the day lounging, watching TV, taking naps and just enjoying a gray Saturday. It was a great way to end the break.

Because I've been so bad a blogging,I'm finally getting to posting pictures of my cute niece Olivia who we visited in Texas over Christmas!
