No matter what happens

today has been a good day! My husband often makes fun of me because I judge the sucess of my day by how much I accomplish. No matter what else happens today, its been a good day! I took Stokley on two walks, washed the dishes, cleaned my whole upstairs, did laundry and typed up a test today all before I went to work at 11:30.
I needed a productive day because yesterday was wholly unproductive and I wasn't feeling too good about the situation. Although, I did finally go to the doctor and have my ingrown toenail removed which had been plaqueing my since March.
I've decided that August is going to be "FIX WENDY MONTH". I'm going to do all those things that I've needed to do, but kept putting off. --- like getting my toe fixed, my haircut, new contacts, etc. So hopefully by September I'll be all new with no more fixable thorns in my flesh!

Women of Faith

This weekend I went with several other girls from Riverview to a Women of Faith conference. There's a core team of about 6 ladies in their 50s to 60s that run women of faith. It was very easy to tell that they really love Jesus and really love each other.
But before I went to the conference, I started reading "Searching for God Knows What" by Donald Miller (the guy who wrote "Blue Like Jazz"). In his book, he was discussing how we tend to go to the Bible like a self help book. Here's my problem. Tell me a story to make me feel better. Then give me three things to do to change my life. But the Bible doesn't read like that.
Back then to the conference. So I'm sitting listening to these women speak and most of them are telling stories, getting us emotional hooked and then giving several points for us to work on or change. Now what they had to say might not have been bad, but because of what I had been thinking about, it wasn't as profitable as I might have hoped.
I guess part of me is really longing to open up the Bible to study a book deeply.

A wonderful husband

Joel is so great! Yesterday I took the dog over to a neighbors house to play with her two dogs. I felt both of my pants pockets, which were heavy so I assumed I had my keys and my cell phone. OPPS! I had my cell phone and a granola bar! But my gracious husband came home from work and let me back in the house. And he didn't even get angry with me! He's amazing!

Massive Birthday Present

Yesterday JR and Tricia treated Joel and I to a wonderful day in Chicago. We drove around to see the city, walked around and shopped and ate at Giordonos Pizza. hmm.... good. I'm enjoying a left over piece for lunch right now! It was so much fun to spend the entire day with them.

Stokley got to stay at Aunt Mollys and Uncle Myrons and play with Gideon. He also learned how to lift his leg and pee like a big boy!

So the weekend was great but this morning was not so great! Don't you just wish you could take back about 5 seconds of your life and have a redo where you think just a bit more before you act! I had one of those times this morning. I was pulling into the parking lot at work and we have to scan our cards before the gate lifts. As I pulled in, i got a little too close and hit the upright post, cracking my front bumper! (growl) Then there was a person in front of me and she was going to back into a spot, but I didn't notice and I stole her spot. She was kind and took another spot. After I got out of my car, checked my bumper, and realized I stole her spot, I went over and apologized. She was totally amazed that I would stop and apologize. At least one bad thing was somewhat correctable! And at least I didn't crack the bumper on Joel's car!

Almost a week

Wow! It's been almost a week since I've last updated. I'm starting to feel like a blog slacker. I feel like things are finally getting back to normal. After Kids Kamp and all of Joel and I's sicknesses, I feel like I'm finally feeling well and have time and energy to do fun things. Let the summer begin! (hm... Joel and I only have one free weekend until September....)

On Monday, I celebrated my 24th birthday! I'm nearly a 1/4th of a century old! Joel and I celebrated by going out to eat on Sunday to Texas Road House. On Monday, JR and Trisha made me a wonderful birthday meal full of all my favorite foods --- mashed potatoes, deviled eggs, watermelon (just to mention a few), and a really awesome cake! It was a great birthday!
Oh, thanks to all of those who sent me birthday presents! I was so excited because I received enough birthday cash to buy a small deep freezer (which is what I really wanted for my birthday). THANKS EVERYBODY!

Well, I've got to run because Stokley has a playdate today with the neighbor, Leah, and her Great Pyrennes, Doc, and a Terrier, Toby.

Doggy Beach

Yesterday Stokley was able to experience swimming for the first time. The Millers, Detweilers and Joel and I went to a doggy beach. It was such a fun time and felt like a real summer day. At first, Stokley was much more interested in visiting all the other dogs and little kids than he was in playing in the water. But after a while, he got the hang of swimming and became a pretty good little swimmer.
He's still thoroughly exhaughsted from his day.

So much to tell..

Wow! Life has been crazy lately! Thank you to all of those who prayed for me last week. I felt good enough on Friday to go to work and then head to North Carolina.

Meeting Olivia Grace was so wonderful! She is incredibly adorable! My mom and I had a lot of fun spoiling her this weekend. I also had a blast hanging out with Jennifer and Tony and their friends. On Saturday night we played UNO Attack with some of them, Sunday we had a cookout, volleyball and swimming get together and Monday we had homemade ice cream and played Texas Hold'em. But it really made me miss getting to hang out with my whole family. Next time Joel will have to come with me though!

Here are some cute pictures of my wonderful niece!
